Kabacan, North Cotabato — “The month of Ramadhan is a harvest season,” Dr. Abubkar A. Murray, in his inspirational message during the symposium at the lobby of the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies (IMEAS), Salipada K. Pendatun Building, University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan, North Cotabato on June 17, 2016.

The statement was confirmed true by the first invited guest speaker Shiekh Ahmad Kanakan.

Dr. Murray is the Director for Instruction of the University.

The affair was sponsored by the Local Student Government (LSG) headed by its lady student Governor Sumayra M. Sapal.

Kanakan gave the following advices: It is mandatory to observe the moon-sighting on the first day of the month; Likewise, it is obligatory to have intention during the meals at pre-dawn every day during the season.

He recommended the increase of: remembrance to the Almighty Allah, reading of the Holy Qur’an, making supplications to the Almighty, and performing midnight prayers.

“By this way, we can be worthy for His promise that He will not course the reward through any intermediary but direct from Him,” the speaker said.

The constituents of the University were the audience in the symposium. They were led by: Dean Badrodin S. Abdulkadir of the Institute, Director Salik Makakena of the University Halal Program, Prof. Abdulgani Yusop of the same Institute and Dr. Zainal Kulidtod of the Mindanao State University who is married to a professor of the Institute.

The second speaker Ustadz Abdulbashet Sapal tackled the other significance of the month such as the rewards for good deeds multiply by manifolds when done in this blessed month.

The highlight of the rewards in the day hereafter will be the meeting and the seeing of the Almighty Creator,” Sapal said.
