“Don’t think we in the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will solely occupy key positions in the proposed Bangsamoro Government.”
This was the statement of Ghazali Jaafar, 1st Vice Chairman of the MILF and concurrent Chairman of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), before a crowd of leaders and professionals at Genalyn’s Resort and Convention Center in Tacurong City on November 20, 2017.
The occasion was the 49th Foundation Anniversary of the Al Muslimin Alpha Phi, Inc (AMAPI) where Jaafar was the guest of honor and speaker.
Jaafar related the response of the MILF Central Committee when asked by the Malaysian facilitator on what will be their plan for the Bangsamoro Government, “We will give to the Bangsamoro people their full opportunity to occupy and run the government.”
According to him, none of the members of the Central Committee showed eagerness to occupy any key position.
Present during the occasion were ranking personalities namely Sultan Tungko M. Saikol, Director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); Mayor Datu Midpantao “Antao” Midtimbang of Guindulongan; Mayor Datu Guinuine Kamaong of Datu Piang; Mayor Datu Abdulkarim Langkuno of Paglat; Mayor Datu Freddie Mangudadatu of Mangudadatu Municipality; former Assemblyman Datu Pike Mentang of ARMM; retired General Akmad Mamalinta of the PNP; and many other government officials and employees from all over Mindanao.
The gathering was hosted by Maguindanao Governor Datu Esmael “Toto” G. Mangudadatu. More than 80 persons participated in the event.
The highlight of the occasion was the swearing in of the new officers of the AMAPI for the coming 2-year term officiated by Jaafar.
Former Mayor Midtimbang was the new elected Secretary General of the AMAPI. A brief turn over ceremony was held after the oath taking.
