Bangsamoro residents in Kabacan celebrated Eid’l Adha

KABACAN, North Cotabato—Bangsamoro residents in the municipality of Kabacan, North Cotabato celebrated this year’s Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice on September 24, 2015. The congregational prayer was held at the municipal plaza fronting the Kabacan Municipal Hall.

It was in conformity with the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) where open an space is the preferred place for the activity. The venue and a streamer for the occasion were complemented by Kabacan Mayor Herlo P. Guzman, Jr. The affair synchronized the Muslim world’s commemoration of one of the very festive moments for the Muslim Ummah. The other one is Eid’l Fitre or the day when the Holy Month of Ramadan ends.

The “khatib” or the one who rendered the sermon and also acted as Imam was Sheikh Montaser Manco, a renowned alim in North Cotabato and Maguindanao. His brief but substantial sermon dealt on the significance of the occasion.

He said, the basis of the religious obligation was when Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be Upon Him) sacrificed his son Ismael in obedience to the command of the Almighty Allah.

The Almighty lightened us when instead of our sons, a goat or a cow will suffice for the fulfilment of our obligation. He then reminded those economically able to perform their religious duty. He said: let us be united with one another. We are all Filipinos and it is not good that Filipinos are fighting against Filipinos, he exclaimed.

The rapport of many thousand individuals composed the prayer assembly. LGU officials led by Municipal Councilors Datu Masla Mantawil and Datu Rusman Mamaluba were in the group. Members of the academe were headed by Dr. Palalsig U. Ampang, the Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Southern Mindanao and Dr. Abubakar A. Murray, the Director for Instruction of the same University.

Businessmen, farmers, drivers and other groups joined the congregational prayer.
