Blind guest receives P10k gift from Kabacan Mayor Guzman Jr.
KABACAN, North Cotabato—A blind woman attending as guest in the 39th birthday celebration of Mayor Herlo Guzman, Jr. of Kabacan, North Cotabato received P10,000 cash gift from the celebrant. The affair was held at the Municipal Gymnasium of Kabacan, North Cotabato on September 16, 2015. Senior citizens, age 80 to 90 years, were also given meager amount as gifts.

The municipal gym was jump packed with guests and residents that attended the celebration. Among the important guests were President Francisco Gil N. Garcia of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan, North Cotabato; Dr. Alimen W. Sencil, Vice President for Resource Generation and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Palasig U. Ampang, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. ¬¬¬¬Cayetano Pumares, Vice President for Research and Extension; and Dr. Abubakar A. Murray, Director for Extension; all of the same University.

Other USM key officials present were Prof. Ronald Pascual, President of the Faculty Association and Board of Regent member; Prof. Badrodin S. Abdulkadir, Dean of the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies, USM; Dr. Leonora Manero, Board of Regent Secretary; and other faculty members and staff.

Lt.Col. Edralin , Commanding Officer of the 7th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army led the uniformed men that attended the affair. Employees of national line agencies such as DepEd and others were seen in the venues periphery. Officials and employees of the local government of Kabacan dominated the crowd.

Datu Manny Pedtamanan, a former local government official of the municipality also graced the occasion as well as some senior citizens and religious leaders.

Speeches were delivered by some guests, while dances and songs as form of serenading the celebrant were also offered.

Among the congenial songs were rendered by the officials of the Barangay Poblacion and pupils from the Kabacan Pilot Central Elementary School.

A graceful dance by teachers and staff of the Day Care Centers in Kabacan was joined by the celebrant- mayor in a very fantastic performance.

Other entertainments were rendered by the AWA Brothers Band of North Cotabato. Mayor Guzman in his speech thanked the audience for attending the blissful day of his life. He asked his constituents if he is still needed to continue the job he had started in the municipality, the crowd responded unanimously with a resounding yes.

The guests and the crowd feasted on tasty lunch with Lanzones and Rambutan fruits and soft drinks as desserts that culminated the celebration.
