Civil Society Group lauds signing of MNLF-MILF Unified Declaration

SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao – Civil society organizations (CSO’s), the international community and an editor-in-chief of a Ukraine-based media outlet lauded the signing of the historic “Unified Declaration” by the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao on October 13.

Abdulbasit Benito, Secretary General of the Mindanao Peoples’ Caucus (MPC) welcomed the signing and praised Allah for giving answers to the prayers of the Bangsamoro to reunite their leaders.

He also expressed hope that both the MILF and the MNLF Council of 15 will to reach out to Nur Misuari’s group, the traditional leaders, and as well as allBangsamoro political leaders.

International Monitoring Team (IMT)-Mission 10 head MGen Dato Sheikh Moksin Bin Sheikh Hassan said in an exclusive interview that he feels happy to see the spirit of brotherhood between the two Moro revolutionary groups.

On his part, Norodin Alonto Lucman, a Moro historian and writer said, “The Bangsamoro people welcome the MILF-MNLF Unified Declaration.”

“Reuniting the forces in the field and adopting a common ground in our quest for the Bangsamoro Right to Self-Determination (RSD) is the call of time”, Lucman said.

Commenting on the historic event, Robert Maulana Alonto, Commissioner of Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), said “it is high time that all Moro fronts should come together and push forward the Bangsamoro cause no matter what obstacles lay along the path towards liberation from oppression and colonization”.

“I am congratulating the Bangsamoro forthis very significant event, hoping that the signed document will prevail,” said Safwan Jolak, Aljazeera correspondent and editor-in-chief of a Ukraine-based media outlet.
