Cotabato City—As part of strong commitment of support to peace, the community of Barangay Bakat, Shariff Saidona, Maguindanao held Values Transformation Training (VTT) for Peace in their locality last January 26, 2016.
A total of 82 participants (26 men and 56 women) coming from the rank and file members and high ranking officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), representatives from the Barangay Social Welfare Committee and employees from Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Bakat supported and participated in the training.
Peace Building Coordinator of Bangsamoro Development Agency-Central Mindanao (BDA-CenMin) Anuar Cabalowas explained that the main purpose of the training was to enhance the values of the participants that would lead to strengthen their unity and solidarity in support to the aspiration of attaining true peace in the Bangsamoro.
“If their values are enhanced and that they appropriately improve their learning to love and understand each other in good faith, conflict will be avoided and that peace can be reached,” he said.
The coordinator added that peace will possibly prevail provided that oppression and all other injustices inflicted against the Bangsamoro will correctly be given justice.
As part of appreciation to the VTT, one of the Battalion Commanders of 106 Base Command of BIAF emphasized that conducting the training provides the best opportunity that strengthens knowledge and understanding of the participants about basic of the values and personality of mankind.
He also stressed the importance of putting into practice whatever learning acquired from the training citing that knowledge without application is useless.
“And, the more you practice the knowledge you gained from this training, the better wisdom you obtain,” Cabolawas added.
Uztaza Ruwaida Kuday, SWC Chairwoman of Shariff Saidona Municipality also said, “If the knowledge learned from this training is applied properly, we can avoid internal misunderstanding and conflict.”
With the success of conduct of VTT, Ansarie A. Abubakar, one of BDA-CenMin Provincial Development Catalysts (PDC) expressed thanks and gratitude not just to the participants but including the community of Barangay Bakat for their unified and strong support.
