Murad: MILF to listen to its people

Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao – In an exclusive interview aired over radio program Suwara Mindanao in Cotabato City on the evening of March 6, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chair Al haj Murad Ebrahim said that if there is no chance for the current peace process, the MILF are going to listen to the decision of the Bangsamoro on what to do next.

“Even we go to war, in the end, we will go back again to the negotiating table.” Murad said when asked if war is an option for the MILF if the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) is watered down in Congress or will be declared unconstitutional.

He emphasized that the BBL is the translation of the peace agreements between the government and the MILF into organic law. The MILF will not accept a BBL that will not reflect the spirit of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB/CAB).

The MILF chairman has criticized those who are calling for an all-out war in Mindanao saying that those calling for all-out war have no alternative for peace. “How many times did we engage in all-out wars? Did it solve anything?” the chairman asked.

He insisted no other option to solve the problem but to continue the peace process.

Murad appealed to the public to work together and give peace a chance. He also assured the people that the Bangsamoro government is not just for the MILF but for all Bangsamoro, settlers and lumad.

We salute the consistent and strong leadership of the MILF. Palakasan, dirty politics and etc are never been seen in the MILF way. Thanx for the present MILF leadership. Thanx for His Excellency Chairman Murad Ebrahim.
